About

Jonas Althaus

Biography

Jonas Althaus is an artist and designer focusing on social interfaces and variants of human-technology interaction and communication. Topics like embedded values in technologies, automated living environments and distance in the age of connectivity crystallize in various objects and installations. These bridges between digital- and physical realms sensually enrich and inspire their users, as seen in his installation space Within Touching Distance (2018). In 2018 Jonas Althaus co-founded the design and research studio ‚Cream on Chrome‘ based in Rotterdam, together with interaction designer Martina Huynh. One of their ongoing projects, 4-D News, aims to make the temporal layers of news stories more accessible. They are developing experimental media-formats and digital tools in collaboration with computer scientists and journalistic institutions.

Jonas Althaus holds a Master of Arts in Social Design (Design Academy Eindhoven, NL) as well as a Bachelor of fine Arts (Bauhaus-University-Weimar, DE)
